• So I was just starting to get into the swing of things here when I did a complete disappearing act at about week 4 or 5 and before I knew it my 12 week email appeared in my inbox. I do have an excuse – as it […]

  • @ecoaction Some of the past workshops I’d like to do include: retrofitting for renters, seed sowing, chemical free cleaning, japanese pickling, no dig gardening.

@Wombat01 Mine used to be around the 90 -105 degrees celsius mark on a good day -but I was often battling cloud cover and I expect it would get hotter in Canberra. It was well above the safe temperature but […]

@Tracey I do know the one, but had forgotten about it. It is extremely simple. I did experiment with this a little last time but I ended up finding it was more effective to use the windscreen shield as the reflector on my box! Its a good one to start with though and I think I will give it a go. Thank you!

    • @Pod There’s a simple model online using a car sunshade; apparently it works relatively well but I’m afraid I don’t know the web address.

In reply to: Tracey posted an update Wow, has anyone been to guerrilla gardener Paul’s place in Mawson? Inspirational. He has been car free for four years but still collects copious amounts of compost material on his bicycle. View

No, but it it sounds like something I would like to see. I love seeing people manage to do so much by bicycle in Canberra.

  • @Wombat01 – great idea! I’d be up for this for sure!

  • @Wombat01 – I agree, I love the variety of mushrooms but have no idea how to grow them. Would be interested to hear if anyone has any suggestions!

  • @Anna21 – good stuff, let us know how it goes. Maybe I should get one of those too.

@Tracey – oops, that was a rather rushed post! I’m not actually making one but I would like to learn how! I’d like to use one to make vege stock from scraps.

    • @Pod Are you going off a prototype for your solar food dehydrator? I would like to make one as well as I plan on having a lot of tomatoes this year!

Oh wow. I’d never heard of a thermomix either but I’ve just checked it out and it looks pretty fantastic. I’m completely torn between wanting to know more and wishing I’d never known of its existence (given the […]

Just planted some water chestnuts – yum!

@Taryn Thanks! And yes I’ll say hello when I recognise you at a workshop.
She was right about the naysayers -people seem to understand no added sugar but not no sugar AT ALL and try to convince me to eat fruit. I […]

  • I’ve been looking for a good cheese making course! My interest is in the hard cheeses though. Ill have to check the Batemans Bay one out. There is one at CIT but it is a bit beyond my budget at the moment.

  • Pod commented on the post, Healthy Eating 5 years ago

@Taryn YES! I like her program – so far so good anyway – apparently the hardest weeks are yet to come! It is the arguments about sugar being rare in a paleo diet that I found so convincing.

    Wheat belly? I’m […]

I’m now in my third week of sugar-free eating! So I can’t speak from much experience! I’m planning to do 2 months before starting to eat occasional sugar again (especially fruit) Its kind of a personal […]

  • @Taryn Not out there at all – I would love this too! What I would find really useful is a presentation of the different kinds of natural building methods and their suitability to this climate – and regulatory […]

  • Great idea – I’d join this for sure
